the main sorting parameter for electronic/club music, i think, is not Artist, or Album...

the main parameter is LABEL and Cat# on this Label... i think this "musthave" feature for AudioManage.

...and tag editor must support Label and Cat# tags...

i know that in mp3files id3.v1 - dont support additional tags, but i know that id3.v2 support any number of additional tags...

and you need to add Rename mask, when ReSorting music files.. like this:

--------------------------------------------

type mask for renaming here:
[<label> - <cat#>] <artist> - <album> (<year>)\<track#> <artist> - <track_name>

here you can seletc needed fields:
<track#>
<artist>
<album>
<track_name>
<genre>
<label>
<cat#>
<comments>

--------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

Thanks for writing in... by LABEL, do you mean publisher? Cat# is some kind of number? Can you please give me more information about this, so I can look into the feasibility of adding these?

If label is publisher, then ID3v2 supports it as a TPUB frame. EVen tho technically any new frame can be added, the specs do not support any 'LABEL' frame, so no other app, if used, would be able to make sense of that tag.

In any case, I'll look into it once I have more details.

Sumit.

PS: Please contact me by mail or register youself on this forum so I can communicate with you faster. Thanks!

Yes, I realize that the rename module is in pretty bad shape. In fact, I'm working on an update where that's being addressed, in a manner similar to what you mention.

"If label is publisher, then ID3v2 supports it as a TPUB frame."

yes! label is publisher, so TPUB frame can be used!

but i cant find frame for cat# here: http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0.html
...
cat# is number on label... you can look it here:
http://www.discogs.com/release/424244

Label: Tresor
Cat#: Tresor 11

here: http://www.discogs.com/label/Tresor
in first column full cat# list of this label

i think AudioManage can be independent audio manager (if it will have powerful tag editor, like [MY]TagEditor) so ...i think, Cat# can be stored here

...
and i think this frames can be useful too:
http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0.html#sec4.18
http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0.html#TCON (djmix, live, album, mixed album, vinyl, cd5'') - general content types can be found on discogs.com (its like freedb.com but has MOORE and More information about release, it has not only genre but and style info, picture of release, label info)
...
but for future... I think most correct variant.. is to add support for all standart id3.v2 tag frames in mass tag editor and in catalog...

[MY]TagEditor have very simple and powerful tag editor, and mass file renamer (reorganizer) but it support only standart "artist", "ablum", "genre", "year", "track#"

its cool. i input rename_mask and all tags are written...

c:\music\trance\[tresor - tr01] Dave Clarke - Album1 (2005)\01_dave clarke_-_intro.mp3

and then, when all tags written i use similar mehanism to reorganize files (which uses masks)

Hi,

I'll look into adding TPUB support (I think I already have TPUB support internally, tho there's no interface support for it). However, I also have to consider the other file/tag formats and equivalent tags for them.

As for using TXXX for Cat#, that'll be a very specific purpose and only AudioManage and no other will recognize it. However, if you are only looking for temporary storage in AM, and not really inside the file, then that will be possible due to a new feature in the next version, which will enable you to add any values into the db, without bothering about file format (it only gets written to the db, not to the file).

Note that AudioManage is not intended to be a "mass tag editor", it's main purpose is the multiple views that the same collection can be viewed in, and access from any Windows app. You can "edit" tags by simply moving the tracks among the virtual folder (there _is_ a mass tag editor built-in, in case you really want to use it). It doesn't support all ID3 tags, as in order to be format independant, it supports all tags commonly used which are available across file formats. However, as I said, this will not be a factor in the next update.

Also, I took the liberty of changing the name of the application you mentioned to [MY]TagEditor... it's difficult to retain visitors as it is, without worrying about sending people to competing sites!!! I hope you will understand.

Thanks,

Sumit.
