AudioManage'ment: Organizing and Renaming
Large audio collections have a way of getting disorganized. AudioManage comes to the rescue, and offers automated organizing and managing features. These features come in two variants, and both can be applied to either the entire library, or a specific view.
Renaming AudioManage stores all the properties of a track in it's database, and gives transparent access to each file. Due to this, one does not need to bother about file names as such. However, if a file needs to be taken out of the system to, say, an mp3 player or MP3 disc, or to a system which does not understand ID3 tags, then filenames can be of important. Using AudioManage, it's possible to quickly rename a part of, or even the entire the collection, with a couple of clicks. Each track is automatically given a name which is determined based on the available information. AudioManage makes sure that the filenames are selected in the most efficient manner. Reorganizing While renaming effects the file names, it doesn't change the actual physical location of the files. This means that if you have a hundred files of different artist, album etc. in the same folder, renaming will keep them in the same folder but change their names to something more descriptive. However, the collection itself remains disorganized. It's possible to re-organize this collection, so that the files are physically moved into a directly structure automatically created. This is quite similar to the virtual views that AudioManage provides, except that in this case, the files are physically moved. This results in a very clean and easy to manipulate collection, even outside of AudioManage. ![]() |
